The members of Nanded Computer Dealers Association (NCDA) have imposed a boycott on Dell products. For almost a month, 54 members of the association have stopped selling the vendor’s products.
The decision was taken in October after resellers found that Dell products available through regional distributors were priced more than the price listed on the Dell website.
Keshav Rahegaonkar, President, NCDA, said, “By selling the products at a price that is higher than the one quoted on the website spells utter disaster for partners. Not only are the customers complaining about the price gap, but a few have even threatened to take us to consumer court. In fact, one of our members had to pay back the differential amount after the customer approached the consumer court.”
This is not the only reason why the association has decided to boycott. “Two months ago, Dell held a reseller meet in the city without taking the local association into confidence. Taking all these factors into consideration, we decided to stop dealing in Dell products. We have informed the vendor about our decision, but are yet to receive any response from their end,” said Dipak Mortale, Secretary, NCDA.
Goankar added that the association will continue the boycott till they receive a favorable response from Dell. |
