As customers are looking to optimise price and performance and maintain heightened security of their IT investments and business operations, this dual cloud region strategy will be very apt for Oracle India

After the launching of first cloud data centre in Mumbai, Oracle India has recently launched the disaster recovery (DR) region in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad region can operate as a DR site with primary site in Mumbai, and vice versa or any other hybrid mode as per a customer’s requirement/choice. With two Oracle Cloud regions live in India, Oracle is fully geared to support its 15000 plus customers in the country, in their innovation journey, with adequate support by nearly 1000 specialised Oracle partners. Already, hundreds of Indian enterprises, large and small, are experiencing unique benefits by moving their core production workloads to Oracle Cloud, with some of them experiencing 2X-3X price-performance improvements.

Speaking to CRN India Chek Yang Ang, Head of Alliances & Channels, Technology & Cloud Platform, Oracle Asia informs, “The purpose of launching the second cloud region was to provide time zone accessibility and low latency. We are giving better throughput directly to the end users. Even more, our partners can now extend services be it universal credits for developing their cloud offerings on our cloud platform or may be pertaining to education about the new offerings, to go to market. I do see India as an adoption ground for a lot of our services partners. I think Indian services firms globally address quite a fair bit of our customer base jointly. And this sets a foundation of momentum that’s ongoing.”

Giving the local perspective, Sanjoy Mukherjee, Head – Alliances & Channels, Technology Business (Cloud Platform, Key Partners & ISV), Oracle India shares, “With both the second generation cloud regions available locally, customers are better able to adhere to the regulatory requirements around data sovereignty and data residency, etc., with both the data centre and the disaster recovery centre located in the same country. This offers them a highly available environment and reduces TCO associated with data movement between the two regions. As customers are looking to optimise price and performance and maintain heightened security of their IT investments and business operations, this dual cloud region strategy will be very apt.”

Today, Oracle has a comprehensive cloud proposition for both customers and partners across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and offers its customers a variety of cloud services, including Oracle Autonomous Database; Oracle Exadata Cloud Service and allowing customers to adopt India’s stringent requirements for data privacy and residency.

The company has strong foothold in financial services, manufacturing, SMEs, global system integrators, born in the cloud companies, and the Public Sector in India. The current business climate also opens up a new market with education, services that engage in online streaming of large volumes of data services and the like.

From the channel side, Chek informs, “Partners account for around 80 per cent of all Oracle transactions in one way or another, especially in Asia Pacific. Specific to India, I would say India has the most participation in terms of services orientation, i.e. complimentary services for Oracle Sales. So there is a huge following of India partners globally that’s supporting our business, and it is very critical. All our channel initiatives are part of OPN 2020 program. We have also transformed digitally. Everybody is consuming things digitally, so a lot of our training and certifications have gone fully already digital. On their front, partners have become more comfortable with this model – the digital way of doing things. We continue to closely collaborate with customers and specialised partners in the areas they are focused on. Ultimately, we continue to support customers’ choices as they move from on-premises solutions to the cloud.”
