Association for Information Technology (AIT) organised AIT HEALTH DAY for its members and their spouses at Apollo Hospital, Seshadripuram, Bengaluru on 29th September 2019.
About 60 attendees benefited from this programme. Dr. Jayaranganath, Senior Consultant Cardiologist explained the background for World Heart Day. Dr. Vikram Kolhari, Consultant Cardiologist gave a detailed presentation regarding the heart, its blood vessels, and the problems associated with blockages in these blood vessels.
He explained about the factors which lead to blockages as well as how to go about controlling those factors which are under our control. He stressed the need to stop smoking, preferably avoid alcohol and non-vegetarian food and fatty food, need to walk 45 minutes every day, etc. The goal, he added was to keep Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol, etc. under control.
Physiotherapist Kiran gave a very invigorating Talk on physical and mental well-being. He highlighted various aspects of good health including meditation, being agile and active and also made all participants do physical activities like laughter, greeting each other, etc. He explained about stress and how to manage it. Dietitian Ms. Padmini gave a Presentation regarding food – what to eat and what not to eat, when to eat and how much to eat. She stressed that Junk food includes masala dosas which also have high calories.
Apollo Hospital gave the attendees a complimentary heart check-up cards and also gave Apollo Privilege Card to all members, which would entitle them to various benefits at Apollo Hospital.
